Ever ponder the thought that the only reason we creatures can love is because He who created us, He who dwells in Heaven, I S love? Have you ever wondered how – if there is no Creator, no CREATion, no love behind all that exists – how we even have the ability to love, ourselves? Have deep affections? Know morality? Know tenderness, thanksgiving, embracing, protecting, caregiving, nurturing, if they weren’t all given to us by the hand of He who d e f i n e s these wonderful qualities?
The only reason we can possess these attributes is because God IS all of these attributes, and He made us in His image. Otherwise, if we had come from premadorial soup, we’d be emotionless and without the ability to know love. Know right from wrong.
All of these beautiful qualities in humanity are the communicable attributes of God – He has gifted humanity with attributes like His, although ours are tainted with sin and He is holy perfection.
Let your mind picture this:
A child, knowing she is perfectly loved and accepted by her daddy. That no matter how much trouble she gets in, her father will love and protect her. Pick her up when she falls, clean her up when she gets messy, and comfort her when she’s scared. Everything he does, even disciplining, is for the good of this little girl. He loves her so much that he would die for her. Picture this sweet girl, innocent, hair in ringlet ponytails, pink dress and all, outside in a beautiful park. The moment she sets her eyes on her daddy, she drops everything – she runs towards him with arms wide open, big smile on her face. Her father is full of joy, he takes so much delight in his child. He opens his arms wide to receive her. There’s not a doubt in her mind that he won’t pick her up, embrace her, and swing her around, hugging and holding her.
This is where she’s safe. This is where she’s loved.
How does a father feel all of this for his own child without it being handed down to humanity by a God who feels this for His own children, but so much more strongly and intensely?
There is no way this beautiful picture of a father and daughter relationship can exist if we came from a blob of chemicals in the water, that just started growing legs, a brain, a heart, and crawling onto land for no reason whatsoever other than the fact that it’s a blob of chemicals. There is no way this beautiful picture of love and affection in humanity came from random chance explosion.
No, this came from our Creator. It’s time we open our eyes, and run into His arms. He’s waiting and He desires to be loved. He wants to embrace us, like an earthly father does, yet so much more. Just like an earthly father desires to be loved by his child. And just like this child, we need our daddy. Our Father. Our loving and personal Creator.
Without Him, we’re alone, in danger, and lost, without protection, and without the love our hearts truly need.
“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
“And yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand.”
“I have cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried you before you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”
